LIMS Robotics Club
Dear Parents and Students,
LIMS will be starting an after school robotics club for its middle school students. Coach Rentz will be supervising the club. The club will start immediately after school and will run until 4:00pm. Tentatively, the club will meet on Fridays until November. It may expand to other days if there is interest.
For students to be eligible for the club, they must be in good standing in their PODS and must be registered for one of my engineering classes. Students who do not qualify for our school’s PBIS events will not be eligible for robotics club during that period. Additionally, students must be picked up promptly after club ends at 4:00pm. Students who have to wait for a ride home will not be allowed to participate in the club.
The club will use both LEGO NXT Mindstorms and Fischertechnik’s. Students will get to explore robotics and push their learning on programming and building. It is our hope to eventually have a competitive robotics team, and an after school club will foster that creativity and teamwork needed to compete.
Have students see me for the parent permission slip that needs to be signed and returned to me ASAP. I will look to start the club once I have enough permission slips returned.
Sincerely,
Coach Rentz
